The 432 Hz converter for Mac: files or live.

Short answer

There are two kinds of 432 Hz converter for Mac. A file converter, such as the free editor Audacity, makes a retuned copy of a song you own. A live converter retunes whatever your Mac plays, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube, which cannot be converted as files. Quantic Heartz is a live converter: it lowers the pitch by 31.77 cents in real time, from A=440 Hz to A=432 Hz, without changing the tempo.

The Conversion

What converting to 432 Hz actually does.

Every note moves down by the same small step: 31.77 cents, a factor of 432/440 ≈ 0.982, or −1.818 percent. The tempo stays the same, so it is a pitch shift, not a slowdown.

Slowing a song down by 1.8 percent would also lower the pitch, but it makes the song longer. Good converters change the pitch only.

Files or Live

Two kinds of converter. Pick by what you play.

File converter

Your own files

In Audacity: open the file, select all, choose Effect → Pitch and Tempo → Change Pitch, enter −1.818 percent, then export a new file. Works for MP3, WAV, AIFF and FLAC you own, one file at a time.

Live converter

Everything that plays

An app in the Mac’s audio path retunes all sound in real time: streaming apps, browsers, video and podcasts. Nothing is copied or changed on disk. This is what Quantic Heartz does.

Streaming

Streaming cannot be converted as files.

Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube stream their music and protect their downloads, so there is no file you could open in an editor. For streaming, live retuning is the only way to hear 432 Hz.

Live calls (FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp, Meet) are not retuned: macOS sends call audio straight to the hardware for echo cancellation, and no app can change that.

FAQ

Questions &
answers.

How do I convert an MP3 to 432 Hz on a Mac?

+

Open it in an audio editor such as Audacity, lower the pitch by 1.818 percent (31.77 cents) without changing the tempo, and export a new file. To hear your music in 432 Hz without converting files, use a live converter like Quantic Heartz.

Can I convert Spotify or Apple Music to 432 Hz?

+

Not as files: streaming services protect their music. On a Mac you can retune them live while they play with Quantic Heartz.

Does converting reduce the sound quality?

+

A good pitch shift keeps the quality. Re-encoding a compressed file such as an MP3 can lose a little detail, which is one more reason to retune live instead of saving copies.

Does 432 Hz make songs slower?

+

No. Quantic Heartz only lowers the pitch. The tempo and the length of the song stay the same.

Which Macs are supported?

+

Quantic Heartz runs on macOS 13 (Ventura) and later, on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

What does it cost?

+

Quantic Heartz has a 7-day free trial with full access. After that it is €9.99 a month or €69.99 a year.
